We're aware that The Elder Scrolls VI still has a long way to go, but we were secretly hoping to catch a glimpse of it at this year's E3. Unfortunately, Bethesda's Todd Howard has shot down the hopes we may see TES 6 or Starfield this time.

Speaking in the 25th-anniversary panel for The Elder Scrolls franchise at PAX East 2019, Howard delivered a few words on Bethesda's post-Fallout 76 plans, which of course include The Elder Scrolls VI and Starfield.

"Before everyone asks, please be patient. It's going to be a long time. It's not something we are going to be talking about at E3, either of those games this year", Howard said.

Fallout 76 is already behind us and it is what it is, but it actually gave the fans of The Elder Scrolls a glimmer of hope. How? Well, if Bethesda's game flops bad enough, they gotta move onto the next one, no?

Back in October 2018, Bethesda's vice president Pete Hines stressed that it will be a really long while before we see The Elder Scrolls 6, although Fallout 76's reception has likely accelerated those plans a bit.

Howard did say at the time that although it's in early stages of development, he actually knows the launch date of The Elder Scrolls 6. Naturally, he didn't share it then, or now for that matter.

Bethesda's earlier teases made us think that both Starfield and TES 6 will be featured in the company's E3 2019 presentation, but we guess that option is not on the table anymore.

For what it's worth, this seems to be in line with what ZeniMax and TES Online's game director Matt Firor said earlier, claiming he's not even sure "what the world is going to be like when it comes out".

He said that the franchise's upcoming instalment is so upcoming that it's likely to launch for next-gen consoles .

The panel also had some funny moments too, like when the moderator asked what their takeaways are from the 25th anniversary of The Elder Scrolls. "Somehow, I aged a shitload and Todd didn't at all", Hines replied.
