EA and DICE have confirmed that Battlefield 2042 will have an open beta test one month before its official launch. The details regarding the September open beta test are yet to be unveiled, though.

During the EA Play showcase, DICE have revealed a ton of new details about Battlefield 2042 . For the first time ever, we got to see Battlefield Portal, a brand new platform for all Battlefield games, where players can customise their Battlefield experience in cool and interesting ways.

On top of this, EA and DICE also revealed their plans to host an open beta test right before the launch. Now, the details are pretty scarce since it's still a bit too early for full beta details but we know that the test will kick off sometime in September, a month before the official game launch in October. More details are expected in the coming weeks.

Battlefield 2042 should also host a closed alpha test sometime before the beta but there are no official details on this one just yet.

As for the content that will be available in the beta, we expect to see at least two maps, since this was the case in Battlefield V open beta, which had snowy Narvik and Rotterdam maps. It's safe to say that there will be plenty of weapons and vehicles to test. Our personal wish would be the Hazard Zone mode, which is EA and Dice's take on Escape from Tarkov according to rumours.

Battlefield 2042 is officially hitting the shelves on October 22, 2021, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
