A new details regarding Battlefield 2042's Hazard Zone mode has leaked online ahead of the official October 14 reveal.
EA and DICE will officially reveal the mysterious Hazard Zone mode for Battlefield 2042 later today (October 14). The official details about the mode are pretty scarce - we only know that the mode would support up to 32 players and will be DICE's take on the hybrid battle royale genre.
Insiders described Hazard Zone as Escape From Tarkov-like mode where players get to search for valuable loot and then extract it on one of the spots on the map.
Today, we have additional details about the mode, courtesy of insider Tom Henderson .
He claims that in Hazard Zone, you won't be able to pick the same specialist as your teammates which means the squad won't have more than one of the same specialists. As for mechanics, Henderson claims that players can be downed, revied when down and there's also a special Reinforment Upling scattered around the map that allows your teammates to bring you back if you are permanently killed.
The main objective is to gather drives and extract them. Once the drives are extracted, they are converted to currency, named Dark Market Credits which you can use to buy weapons, gadgets, and upgrades for the next match in Hazard Zone.
The data drives will be protected by AI forces which are very deadly. Engaging them will deplete your own resources (ammo, grenades) and alert other players on the map.
Henderson concludes by saying that you can complete a match of Hazard Zone without even killing anyone. The objective is not on PvP per se since you don't get any rewards from killing players, except for their loot.
