Publisher Bandai Namco have officially announced that anime fighting game Jump Force and its DLC will be removed from digital storefronts in February 2022.
Jump Force online services will be shutting down on August 24, 2022, and the game will be removed from digital storefronts across all platforms on February 7, 2022.
Players will no longer be able to play online ranked matches, log into the multi-lobby, participate in online events, view ranking boards and use in-game stores and premium shop. Though, it's interesting that online play will be available but players won't be able to play ranked.
You will also be able to play solo against the base game and DLC characters.
This was just confirmed by the publisher Bandai Namco, who did not say the exact reason behind their decision. We assume it comes down to licencing issues since Jump Force features a large roster of anime characters and perhaps Bandai Namco did not secure lengthy licences for these. This is just speculation, though, since we don't have any official statements from Bandai Namco.
Jump Force and all of its downloadable content will be available for purchase until then on all digital storefronts including PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Steam and Nintendo Switch Store.
Jump Force was released in 2018 to mixed reviews. Players praised the idea of having big anime characters in one fighting game but criticised execution and overall game design.
