Interplay Entertainment, the publisher for the Baldur's Gate and Descent series and the parent studio of Black Isle are set to reveal some big news on Wednesday, July 28, 2021.

UPDATE: It turns out that the Twitter profile is not real. Interplay CEO Herve Caen told  Derek Smart that everything is a work of an unknown troll.

Original story: Interplay Entertainment, a publishing studio founded way back in 1983 by industry veterans such as Brian Fargo, Rebecca Heineman, Jay Patel and Troy Worrell, are set to announce some big news tomorrow. The studio teased the announcement via Twitter: "July 28th, be prepared for the new Interplay," the short message states.

At the time of writing, it is not clear what exactly the studio are planning to reveal. Our guess would be some sort of relaunch but that's just speculation since there's nothing official.

Fans of the studio suggest that Microsoft may be acquiring the publisher to merge them with Brian Fargo's InXile but that won't be happening since Fargo himself debunked the rumour, stating that he knows nothing about the announcement but he is excited to see the iconic logo and the slogan again.

"Sorry to dash your hopes but I'm not involved with the Interplay announcement and I've no idea what the "new" Interplay will be. I'm as curious as you. It's sure nostalgic to see the logo and the 'By Gamers. For Gamers.' again," head of InXile studio Brian Fargo tweeted.

Luckily, we will not have to wait for too long to see what exactly Interplay Entertainment have to announce since the reveal is dropping tomorrow.
