Ubisoft have announced that the Mercenary live event will be canceled for a second week in a row, due to them not being able to resolve the technical issues. Or as Ubisoft put it, they still can't track Damais the Indifferent down.
While the official tweet revolves around "not finding" Danais the Indifferent, who was supposed to be the target of the first live event, this pretty much means no Epic Mercenary events will occur at all until the issues get fixed.
Meanwhile, Epic Ship events have already kicked off so there is some solace for the players looking to cash in on some events as opposed to just grinding the old-fashioned way. While Ubisoft didn't specify whether the Epic Mercenaries will kick off with Danais or another mercenary whose turn it would be for that point in time, they did say that the developers are "working towards a solution to address an issue that prevents the mercenary live events from appearing.
Everything seems to be proceeding to plan with the ship side of live events though, as Ubisoft have announced that the next ship is due to appear next week. This ship will be Korinthian-made and will bear the name "The Tyrant". As the describes it, this will be a brand new ship on maiden voyage and is supposed to redefine naval warfare for Sparta.
Ubisoft don't seem to have faced much backlash for failing to launch the Epic Mercenaries so far, as one part of the player base is still satisfied with the regular mercenaries coming after them. Others are simply about the first mercenary that turned out to be so indifferent that he didn't care to show up.

Whether Danais manages to show up next week or not, it seems that the sheer size of Assassin's Creed: Odyssey may have done Ubisoft a favour as players still manage to find something to occupy themselves with, even though it may hurt the game's pacing in the long run.
