Apex Legends will launch on Steam alongside Season 7 but the game's Nintendo Switch launch has been pushed to 2021, Respawn Entertainment have announced.
Respawn's free-to-play battle royale title Apex Legends will not launch on Nintendo Switch in 2020, the developer confirmed. At the moment, the exact release date is yet to be revealed but the Switch launch is expected sometime in 2021.
"Switch owners can expect to get their hands on Apex Legends next year. And of course, when Apex Legends does launch on Switch, it'll come with support for cross-platform play, our latest seasonal content, and full feature parity with the other versions of the game," Chad Grenier, Game Director on Apex Legends wrote in the announcement .
This will probably come as a disappointment to many Switch owners who were looking forward to this free title. Let's hope that the game arrives early in 2021 and not in the second half of the year.
As for the Steam release date, Apex Legends will be coming to Valve's storefront as planned, alongside the launch of Season 7, which is currently scheduled to arrive on November 4, 2020. Respawn confirmed that all your account progression and unlocks will carry over between the two platforms which is always nice.
Apex Legends is available now on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. For more news about the game, check out the latest news on Mirage, Octane, Pathfinder and Rampart buffs , which should arrive in the game's next update.
