Electronic Arts has decided to listen to dissatisfied Apex Legends players after all, and in the end they will not cancel the possibility of buying battle passes with virtual currency.
The team from Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment abandoned the controversial change of the battle pass system in Apex Legends, which was supposed to cost players more money.
To remind you, EA announced that next season it will eliminate the possibility of buying battle pass accessories using the virtual currency Apex Coins, which could be won by playing. The players did not react well to it, and this month Apex Legends recorded more than 70 thousand negative reviews on Steam.
The outcry and backlash of the players did some great work towards this decision, and in the end it was decided that the battle pass will still be able to be purchased using Apex Coins.
That is, in the first part of the new season, the Premium Battle Pass can be obtained by completing a "series of simple in-game challenges", and in the second part of the season, the Premium Battle Pass will cost 950 Apex Coins, as before.
After the decision, Respawn addressed the fans: "We admit that we could have implemented the changes around the battle pass better - that's our fault. For the future, we recognize that we need to be more active, transparent and consistent in our communication with you. Your priorities are our priorities: in-game cheating problem, game stability and update quality are at the top of our list. We need to do better and that's why we admit it here."
No developer came forward with an apology, so it is obvious that the directive about a different way of monetization came from the publisher and owner of the studio.
