Several reports popped up on Apex Legends' subreddit accusing some of the game's top-ranking players of cheating, prompting Respawn to investigate the matter.
It seems that the issue is quite widespread, as we've seen reports for PC as well as Xbox One.
Platforms may differ but it's the same scenario - top-ranked Predators are seen teaming together, which significantly increases their odds for winning.
One post is named "The #1 and #2 Apex predators Xynoa and Skittles caught 6 man teaming on EU servers", which is as self-explanatory as it gets.
Ironically, a post from an Apex Legends player on Xbox One also accuses multiple top 10 Predators of teaming. In his case, it was six of them cheating their way to wins.
Some may not consider this overly concerning - they didn't use aimbots or anything, but it definitely casts a shade over the integrity of Apex Legends' competitive scene.
Before Season 5: Fortune Favor kicked off, Respawn's summary of changes to Ranked play talked about how well the Predator tier separation worked. Having the best of the best on two platforms being cheaters, however, doesn't sound like a job well done.
When called out directly to comment on the matter, Respawn's senior designer Chin Xiang Chong said, "I know this is probably not the answer you're looking for RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW but: Yes, we see the articles and the claims and will take appropriate action after doing appropriate investigations."
Now, we can't attest to the truthfulness of additional claims given in
