Even though it was safe to assume that Respawn are cooking up a new map for Apex Legends, the job descriptions for their latest job listings pretty much confirm it.
Now, don't be getting your hopes up just yet as this is far from a confirmation - it's more of a long-term heads up.
Knowing that Respawn are touted as the studio that's quickest to prototype ideas, and just as quick to discard them, is also something to consider before saying a new map's on the way. After all, the total number of leaked characters for Apex Legends would easily double the current roster.
That said, the job listing for Respawn's new "experienced level designer" was posted on May 19, 2020, and the dev is looking for someone who'd "create and own large scale multiplayer maps iterating through gameplay blockouts in a live playtest environment."
Apex Legends' prospective level designers would work together with coders, art and design departments, and just about any other developmental branch "to create fully playable maps."
It also mentions that they'd have to be pragmatic and make hard choices and trade-offs, while helping realise the creative vision for "taking players to new worlds".
Many players expected that the Season 5 of Apex Legends will bring with it new map, but all the nostalgia and calls to bring back Kings Canyon have thus far worked wonders, allowing the dev to polish the maps and expand on the game's narrative simultaneously.
Nevertheless, Apex Legends has become the main EA shooter for fiscal 2021 and it got a dedicated studio in Vancouver so you can bet your bottom dollar they're cooking something up. Not to mention that they're mapping out Season 11 and 12 while we're still prancing around in S5: Fortune's Favour.
Thanks, Dexerto .
