In their latest tweet, Respawn wrote, "We're going back to where it all started. Starting tomorrow through Feb 24, in addition to World's Edge, Season 1 Kings Canyon will also be available to play."
So, the map where you first got a taste of Apex Legends' hectic, frantic, break-neck fun is arriving just in time to spend a weekend on it. Unlike its last introduction, which was Kings Canyon After Dark, this time around - it's the whole, unaltered shebang. Meaning daylight and lots and lots of mayhem.
We, and we're certain Respawn as well, would normally be worried whether this will split the Apex Legends playerbase too much. However, the dev doesn't seem to concerned, which probably has to do with a huge jolt of players coming back for the launch of Season 4.
There's a lot to sift through when it comes to Season 4 changes, not least with the introduction of the new necromancy-friendly legend Revenant, and the Sentinel sniper rifle, which brought a tactical aspect to shooting shields. We guess that would solve Dr Disrespect's "shooting shields" gripes as well.
By now you had to have seen Revenant's trailer, which is easily the most brutal of Respawn's trailers thus far, but if you're interested in seeing how it was made - you can check it out here. Even that face-grinding was choreographed and motion-captured, but c'mon - there's no way that didn't hurt.
As far as we understand, this has nothing to do with Apex Legends' Ranked matches, which will proceed with the 2-split format, where one is played on World's Edge, and the other on Kings Canyon.
