Just as they promised, Respawn Entertainment's dev stream gave us some valuable info on Season 4. So, it's called Assimilation. The new hero is Forge and the new gun is the Sentinel. There are some Ranked changes too, and the return of Kings Canyon, sort of.
Quite symbolically, Apex Legends: Assimilation kicks off on 4 February 2020, right on Apex Legends' first birthday.
To celebrate, Respawn will be handing out a special origami-like charm and some badges, some of which will be earned, but that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Much to our surprise, the new legend is Forge, rather than Loba or Revenant. As the story goes, he's a five-time hyper-fighting champion that's actually corporate-sponsored by Hammond Robotics, which Titanfall fans should be familiar with.
We're looking at a character that's quite cyberpunk-ish, much like Crypto before him, although we're yet to learn of his skillset. He sure looks like a brawler, but we should know where his strengths lie soon enough.
They said he's the complete opposite of Crypto though, so it's definitely something about proximity and getting in your face here.
There will be changes on World's Edge, where Respawn will be changing up entire areas which are likely to have something to do with Hammond again.
Where data miners were spot on was the new weapon, which is the Sentinel sniper rifle. It has a charge mechanic and while they refrained from going into much detail, it's safe to assume it's the standard mechanic that lets you take your time for a more powerful shot, or take more shots that do less damage.
As for the Ranked Mode of Apex Legends, Season 4 Predator Tier is going to be limited to top 500 players per platform. This means that players that have more RP than the last Predator will be able to take their place, although you won't be dropping further below the also-new Master Tier.
Moreover, there will be two Ranked Splits per Season, so ranks will be reset midseason, which should allow more players to test their skills on a level playing field.
Perhaps most interesting of all for ranked is the fact that the first split will be on World's Ege, whereas the second is on Kings Canyon, which the fans have been clamouring for almost since it was replaced.
Other valuable info for ranked is the assist time, which has been increased to provide you with more points for helping out your teammates.
