Respawn have not only come back from holiday - they did so with a bang, announcing the Grand Soirée Arcade Event - a set of awesome limited-time modes that will satisfy even the Kings Canyon nostalgics' sensibilities. Prizes? Why of course.
"You are cordially invited to two weeks of refined mayhem. We are pleased to offer fresh game modes every two days, from golden oldies to exotic new additions. Partake in a rollicking event prize track, earn exquisite rewards, and peruse the event shop for an array of Art Deco-inspired cosmetics and outfits", Respawn wrote. The event lasts from 14 to 28 January 2020.
As you can see from the trailer, the Limited-Time Mode Arcade is bringing back Kings Canyon, which should be great news for the vocal nostalgics. It's not all about threading trodden trails though - there's some fresh additions too.
Gold Rush Duos is about teaming up with friends and only gold weapons. As suggested by the data mines before, Third-Person Mode will be featured and Respawn just confirmed it.
Armed and Dangerous: World's Edge is all about shotguns, snipers and limited armour. Kings Canyon After Dark. Yes, with a period behind it because it needs no explanation.
Dummies Big Day is apparently all about the wrath of the poor Firing Range puppets, while "Live. Die. Live" lets you respawn on living squadmates when the ring closes.
Always Be Closing will have Apex Legends players running from the ring that never stops, so good luck as it seems to be one of my most reliable enemies. I'm a procrastinator - sue me.
Also part of the event are rotating cosmetics and prestigious rewards that will rise in quality the more you play.
"Each limited-time mode will have three new challenges worth a total of 1000 points. We’ve tuned the system so that you don’t need to be there every day, but the socialites among you will also receive a special badge for trying every mode. And don’t worry, you’ll still be able to complete your battle pass challenges throughout the event too", the dev wrote.
