AMD's next graphics card is set to release sometime in 2020 and according to the latest rumours, it could exceed the performance of Nvidia's RTX 2080 Super and even come close to 2080 Ti.
AMD made a big comeback to the GPU market earlier in 2019 with their Radeon RX 5700 XT. Made for 2K gaming, 5700 XT beats Nvidia's RTX 2070 and comes close to the Super version of the same card. However, one thing is still missing in the tech giant's portfolio of graphics cards. AMD are yet to release a proper high-end graphics card for 4K gaming that would compete with Nvidia's top tier cards such as RTX 2080 Super and 2080 Ti.
However, according to the latest rumours, AMD are planning to release a proper beast of a graphics card sometime in 2020. The rumours state that AMD's high-end Navi GPU, which is being referred to as the Navi 21 GPU is being planned with a die size as twice as big as Navi 10 GPU.
This means that the chip could be a true powerhouse that is definitely faster than anything AMD have released yet. In terms of performance, the Navi 21 GPU is said to be at least twice as fast as the Navi 10 GPU. This would mean that Navi 21 could exceed the performance of Nvidia's RTX 2080 Super and even come close to Nvidia's flagship product - RTX 2080 Ti.
Earlier this year, rumours stated that the green team are working on RTX 2080 Ti Super, which certainly makes sense if AMD's new GPU is as fast as the latest rumours suggest.
Here are the alleged specs of the Navi 21 GPU:
- TSMC 7nm+
- 505mm² Die
- GDDR6 memory
- twice as fast as Navi 10
