According to the latest data from Chinese outlet Teclab, Nvidia's flagship graphics card RTX 3090 is only 10 per cent faster than RTX 3080, which released a couple of days ago.
Even though Nvidia claimed that RTX 3080 will offer double the performance of RTX 2080, this week we found out that is not the case. RTX 3080 is indeed a great card, especially for 4K gaming but overall, it's around 40 per cent faster than its predecessor.
And it looks like the most powerful and most expensive model from the RTX 3000 series, the 3090, could also offer a small improvement over the 3080. According to the leaked benchmark from Chinese outlet Teclab, the 3090 is only 10 per cent faster than 3080 and in some cases with ray-tracing off, the difference is only 2-3 frames.
In the screenshot above, you can see the results from Horizon Zero Dawn's built-in benchmark where the RTX 3090 managed to score 84 FPS while the RTX 3080 delivers 76 FPS. When you take the $1,499 price point of RTX 3090 into consideration, these results look even worse.
The leaked benchmark also includes data from other modern titles such as Death Stranding, Control, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Far Cry 5 and Assassin's Creed: Odyssey but the data is pretty consistent across all games, with RTX 3090 offering around 10 per cent more FPS than RTX 3080. You can check the rest of the benchmarks here.
Nvidia RTX 3090 is set to launch on September 24, 2020.
