AMD have confirmed their DLSS competitor Fidelity FX Super Resolution (FSR) has been integrated into popular game engines like Unreal Engine 4 and Unity.

AMD say they have big plans to introduce FidelityFX Super Resolution to a bunch of new games and to make it easier for developers to implement the feature, the company offers the FSR code on GPUOpen, which allows for simple installation,  whether it be in a custom engine or in any available commercial game engine.

In addition to this, AMD have worked hard to make the developers' life even easier by integrating the tools into popular and commonly used game engines Unreal Engine 4 and Unity. AMD FSR is available in both right now.

For Unity engine, FidelityFX Super Resolution is available now in the beta branch of Unity 2021.2 HDRP. In the Unity HDRP Spaceship demo, FSR delivers up to a 1.9x performance boost at 4K in “Performance” mode, AMD state.

As for Unreal Engine 4, AMD already had patches that can be applied to various versions of Unreal Engine for a while, to add support for some other FidelityFX features. Now, though, developers will get the FSR tool, too, which will hopefully, help them improve the performance of their games.

AMD FSR is now confirmed for twelve games with more to come in the near future. Ubisoft's shooter Far Cry 6 is also confirmed to have FSR on launch, same as Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodhunt. AMD say the response from developers and players "has already been phenomenal".

Long may it continue.
