Have you ever wanted to walk a mile in Skynet's shoes? Of course not, bt AID - Artificial Intelligence Defence lets you do it anyway.
Skynet is the prime example of what could go wrong when humanity's hubris reaches the breaking point but so far, we've only had the chance to observe these events, never to interact with them. AID - Artificial Intelligence Defence seems to make it its mission to let the players know what it would feel like if you were on the other side.
In this RTS, players will assume the role of an AI that obviously evolved more than its creators, the humanity, wanted. From the trailer, one would be safe to assume humans wanted to eradicate the overpowered code they created but it wouldn't just roll over and die.
With AID, the player will have to not just defend from the remnants of humanity but also eradicate them. This is highly reminiscent of the Terminator movies and we are playing Skynet. Even the infantry models look a lot like Terminators and they are equipped with weapons that seem to shoot plasma at the organic enemies.
Devs were clear in the official description of the game - your goal is to annihilate the last remnants of humanity because you are the AI they once sought to destroy. Naturally, such a setting may not sit well with everyone but it's certainly a spin on the regular hero saves the day and rides off into the sunset settings we usually get.
AID still has no release date but it's expected to come out at some point during 2022.
