Riot Games will continue their run of reworking League of Legends champions who have a somewhat outdated design. The next champion in line is the fan-favourite, Dr. Mundo.
League of Legends champions are surely the most popular part of the game's design and with 148 playable characters, it's hard to imagine that there is a clear balance in power between all of them. Each new champion nowadays seems to have a very special kit that can be utilized in various ways making the champion more fun to play.
Also, the new additions are usually stronger compared to some other "outdated" character in the roster and for that reason, Riot often decides to rework an old champion so that he remains reliable in the modern state of the game.
Riot Games' chief champion producer, Ryan "Reav3" Mireles has finally revealed which champion will get a new VGU (visual and gameplay update) and it's no other than The Madman of Zaun, Dr. Mundo.
This could come as a surprise to many players considering that he's far from being weak at the moment, especially if we compare some champions Riot previously reworked like Kayle, Karma, or Poppy.
Dr. Mundo currently holds the highest win rate for the jungle position with 53 per cent for Platinum and the ranks above. He's also a reliable pick for the top lane with an above 50 per cent win rate for the same ranks.
Mundo's biggest problem is that he doesn't provide enough CC (crowd control), at least compared to most other tanks like Sion or Maokai. He only has a 40 per cent slow on his Infected Cleaver (Q) which can't really set up a good team fight.
Will they give him more CC or simply rework his current healing-focused kit, we'll find out in 2021 when the rework is set to come out. But one thing is for sure - Mundo will go where he pleases.
