Ubisoft have secretly been releasing comicbook-style stories on their official site for the community to read and get a bit more insight into the lore of the operators of Rainbow Six Siege.
Until recently, the fans were not aware that these comicbooks actually revealed who the next operator is and what their abilities are. The comic book in question is the one related to the current season of Rainbow Six Siege, Heavy Mettle.
Many were quick to speculate that the next defender was going to be Team Rainbow's current biggest enemy, the killer of Six, Deimos.
The reason for this peculation is one of the moments that were portrayed in the comics: a shot of an armour-piercing round, along with Deimos' gun being put into the "spotlight" during the Year 8 cinematic movie trailer.
This has led the community to connect some dots and paint a picture of a defender whose special ability will be a gun that can penetrate reinforced walls, similar to how Buck's Skeleton Key works.
While none of this is confirmed by Ubisoft or any of the Rainbow Six Siege developers, it does seem like a very realistic possibility that this is the direction the game is going in.
With so many attackers with breaching charges and a defender who can patch any whole, it only makes sense that there is a defender who can also breach walls from the inside.
We aren't sure yet how this would be balanced since this would give Mira an insane amount of power and site control but we will see what the upcoming Rainbow Six Siege reveal panel has to offer.
