Ever since Ubisoft released Rainbow Six Siege back in 2016, it featured a competitive gamemode for those who were eager to test out their skills against the community.
As the years went by, Ranked saw many changes, from operator bans to map bans, and recently a new way of ranking the players with Ranked 2.0.
Currently, there are 8 ranks players can get and those are:
1. Copper
2. Bronze
3. Silver
4. Gold
5. Platinum
6. Emerald
7. Diamond
8. Champion
Each of these ranks has subdivisions, such as Copper IV, Bronze II, Silver I, etc., which helped further distinguish players within the same rank. Players' ranks were determined by their performance in ranked matches.
Winning or losing matches and individual performance (kills, deaths, assists, etc.) contributed to a player's MMR (matchmaking rating) and, consequently, their rank.
The subdivisions are sorted as follows:
Copper: V, IV, III, II, I
Bronze: V, IV, III, II, I
Silver: V, IV, III, II, I
Gold: V, IV, III, II, I
Platinum: V, IV, III, II, I
Emerald: V, IV, III, II, I
Diamond: V, IV, III, II, I
Champion
In ranked 2.0, your visible rank is nothing more than a visual "reward" for your hard work. With the new system, players whose visible rank is Bronze can still go against Gold players and win.
The hidden MMR is what the matchmaking system now uses and the hidden MMR takes into account the players performance in all gamemodes and not just ranked.
