While on Lana's second task - finding the pearl from deep underwater - you will find the seashell quite easily, but getting the pearl requires some extra work. You need to find a way to open the seashell, if you get stuck your journal will give you a little tip on how to do it. Basically, what you need to do is electrocute the seashell and it will open.
Previously, you'll find a vehicle that the invaders use to travel underwater, as this is too deep for Lana to be able to survive. Naturally, before you get to this section, you'll get one of these, and the magnet at the bottom is what you'll use.
You'll notice that in order to electrocute the seashell, you'll need to connect these long metal planks, and to the right of the seashell there is already two of them, but the middle one is missing. In order to find that one, make your way to the left where you'll find one laying on the ground, use the magnet on the vehicle to grab it and transport it to the right, forming a line and connecting all three.
After you do that, now you have to find the source of the electricity. During the entire second chapter, you'll be encountering electricity squids, whose top side are platforms for Mui to bounce on, but the underwater side are dangerous sources of electricity that can kill Lana. After you drive your vehicle to the small opening on the right and leave it, you'll swim to the right and down towards the squid. If you run out of breath, the little yellow corals are places where you can take a breather, literally.
After carefully touching the squid, because if you let it touch you it will kill you, move away and watch the squid move up and push electricity through the metal bridge you made, shocking the seashell and opening it to reveal the pearl Lana needs to move on.
