NetherRealm Studios have already confirmed that Mortal Kombat 1 will feature reimagined classic fighters but also brand new characters that will make their debut in this brutal fighting series.
Mortal Kombat 1 has been officially announced by Warner Bros. and developer NetherRealm , who also shared a bunch of additional details about the game and its roster of fighters. Previously, only thirteen characters were known but now the full roster is available.
All of the confirmed characters are iconic Mortal Kombat fighters that we knew would be in the game in the first place but it's always good to have that official confirmation.

This is the full list at launch of Mortal Kombat 1. NetherRealm will reveal new characters as we get closer to DLC packs, such as the one containing Homelander, Omni-Man and Peacemaker.
Speaking about Kameo Fighters, NetherRealm explained that these will be a unique roster of partner characters to assist during matches and will be chosen separately from the main roster of fighters.
The devs already announced Kombat Pack 1 which will add six new playable characters and five Kameo fighters after the game's launch.
