Layers of Fear, the newest psychological horror from Bloober Team, is a game that will test the power of your perception every now and then.
Near the beginning of the game, you will come across a room with three canvases that you can see through if you look through them from the front, while the back side will be normal.
Once you enter this room, both the front and back doors will be locked, and there will be no key to unlock those doors. This puzzle can be very confusing, and if you are stuck in this room, here is the solution.
How to find the key in the room with three canvases
Without further ado, the solution to this puzzle is in perspective. Notice the headless statue near the fireplace somewhere in the middle of the room? Well, the key is actually that statue, if only you see it from a different perspective.
Position yourself so that you turn your back to the door that has paint on it and stand in front of the closest canvas. Now, look through the canvas to see the empty trident where the fourth canvas is supposed to be, right in front of the headless statue.
As you look through the canvas, the trident will now have the canvas on it. Now go to the newly added canvas and look through it to see the statue. Once you look, the statue will turn into a key. Pick up the key and open the painted door to progress further into the story.
