Moorwing is the fifth boss in Hollow Knight Silksong, and while I found it to be not that hard, I can see why some players will have trouble beating it. Its second phase is especially tricky, but I've managed to discover something that can make the second phase much easier. Read on below for the details.
How to beat Moorwing in Silksong?
First phase
In the first phase, the boss is very simple with only three attacks that you can easily dodge. His attacks consist of a gliding attack, which can be avoided by simply jumping over the boss, a throwing blade attack, which is also avoidable by jumping and a fast blade slashing combo, which is the strongest attack that can be very tricky.
He will only use the blade slashing combo if you get close to him and before unleashing the attack, he'll put out a short shriek, which is your signal to quickly dash away from him.
When attacking, don't get greedy. One strike is enough. Jump, then strike and move back and wait for the next opportunity.
Second phase
Second phase is not really a full fledged transformation, but the boss will become more agressive with a new, powerful attack that can be a real pain to avoid.
This new attack is a variation of the throwing blade. Basically, he can now throw two blades in quick succession. The blades have an awkward circular trajectory and will often hit you if you try to avoid them by jumping.
Key advice: As soon as the boss unleashes a strong shriek, this is your signal that the second phase has kicked off. Start running towards the right side until you get to a pile of wood, right before the water. Stand on the wood. This will basically make Moorwing's new blade-throwing attack harmless.
The blades will hit the wooden platform 99 per cent of the time, allowing you to focus on positioning yourself and striking the boss. I suggest you watch the video above to see how I dealt with the second phase.
