CD Projekt Red shared a couple of new details about Nanowires - a weapon which can be seen in the short Cyberpunk 2077 trailer from E3 2019. Players will use Nanowire to hack other characters with malware and slice them into tiny pieces.

CD Projekt Red have been releasing new details about Cyberpunk 2077 in the mini dev video series for the last few weeks now. We got details about character backgrounds, story and life paths among other things, and today, we have another, fresh video with details about one of the weapons that players will get to use in the game.

Named Nanowire, the weapon has been showcased in the short gameplay trailer, which was shown at E3 2019 in June 2019. In the video, a player uses it in combat with one of the game's bosses.

According to Cyberpunk 2077's Senior Level Designer Miles Tost, who is the host of the new video, players will use Nanowire to hack other people with powerful malware and other viruses. Nanowires are a set of strings that are attached to your character's arms and they can be pulled out when you want to hack someone from the distance or finish off enemies stealthily.

Also, Nanowires aren't just for hacking. They are "really, really sharp" so you can use them to cut people into "tiny, bite-sized pieces". Tost says that Nanowires are a great choice for players who plan to play as combat netrunners.

The most interesting part of the video is certainly about dismemberment. CD Projekt Red did not talk much about this feature before and they only mentioned that Cyberpunk 2077 will have a dismemberment system - a pretty visceral and brutal one.

Of course, this is nothing new for the studio. In their last major title - The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - CD Projekt Red had a pretty solid dismemberment system, which allowed players to cut Nekkers, Drowners and other monstrosities into several bits.

In other Cyberpunk 2077 news, CD Projekt Red revealed a ton of new details to the Polish press earlier this week. These new details include hacking mini-games, religions and world events among other things.
