We haven't heard much about Xbox's magical world of Everwild over the last couple of years and to be fair, even when Rare talked about their next project, they didn't reveal much. Everwild has been in development for a while and even had some development issues according to some reports but the game is still pretty much on the way and could even appear at the upcoming Xbox Showcase 2023.
Anyway, today we have just a tiny bit of information about Everwild and what the game might be. According to VGC's Andy Robinson, Everwild could share some similarities with Viva Pinata and might not be the survival game the trailers suggested it would be.
"Last I heard it was a bit more Viva Pinata than the survival game the earlier trailers hinted at," he tweeted and added that with industry veteran Greg Mayles on board, we can be confident that "Everwild will turn out great" and "Rare will knock it out of the park".
This will probably be music to Xbox fans' ears who have been asking for more Viva Pinata for many, many years. On the other hand, it will certainly come as a relief to hear industry insiders confidently speak about the project which had some tough obstacles to cross.
Rare have previously stated that the development of Everwild has been going great since Greg Mayles took over as a director. Executive Producer Louse O'Connor also excitingly tweeted about the incredibly busy period for the Everwild team while Xbox Game Studios boss Matt Booty said rumours about a reboot were a little extreme.
From what we've previously heard from the development team, Everwild is all about nature and the fantastical beasts that reside there. It seems that the Eternals, who are the playable characters, will have the task of protecting nature and the beasts from a danger that is slowly devouring the world.
Sadly, we don't know much about the gameplay aspect of things and how will this concept work through combat, exploration and other important mechanics that make games fun.
Everwild does not have a release date but you can expect it on PC and Xbox Series X|S.
