Speaking in the most recent episode of the Kinda Funny Games podcast, Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty mentioned Rare's Everwild, an upcoming Xbox exclusive that was revealed back in 2019. We are yet to see any gameplay of Everwild and it seems that the game won't be ready for showcase anytime soon since reports suggest that the development has been completely rebooted. Everwild is not expected to launch before 2024 apparently.
However, Matt Booty reveals that such claims are a bit extreme and that Rare are just trying their best to deliver the best possible game.
"When you hear words like reset and maybe restructure, I’ll just say that those are probably a little more definite and a little more extreme than what really happens as a game comes to life," Xbox boss explained.
"They’re just trying to make sure that they’ve got something special. We’ve shown kind of a glimpse of a world, you’ve seen the art style that the team has got, but we want to get it right."
Booty added that Xbox will only share more on Everwild when they are sure that the team have cool stuff to show and not before, which is fair. Though it does seem like Xbox announced this one a bit too early.
Everwild is a brand new IP from Rare, who describe the game as a "unique and unforgettable experience set in a natural and magical world."
