New World leveling experience has changed drastically and if you are not sure why, here is a list of reasons.

Amazon Game Studios released an absolute mountain of text for all the patch notes that were included with the Brimstone Sands update in New World so it's easy to miss even some of the key highlights, like the road to level 60.

Previously, we would farm up town board quests in order to level up as fast as possible but this is no longer the case and it is not even recommended to keep grinding these and yet, the leveling experience seems easier than ever.

That is because AGS also rebalanced the experience required to max out one's New World character.

First and foremost, leveling after 20 generally requires less experience. The patch notes had some funky numbers, like 140 or 160 per cent reduction in XP required but it probably just means 40 per cent reduction through level 45 and 60 per cent through level 60.

The aforementioned town projects now award 75 per cent less experience but this is offset by both the lower XP requirement for leveling and the increased gains for other sources of experience:

  • Faction missions
  • Lore notes
  • Gathering
  • Point of Interest discoveries
  • Gathering skills
  • Corruption portals

Overall, leveling in the game is much quicker now and you should always take advantage of the increased rewards for the first three faction mission quests each day.
