Going to Brimstone Sands in New World is a little more complicated than just hoofing it to the location.
Those who come unprepared find themselves dying the moment they touch the searing desert's ground and if you are reading this, you are likely one such unfortunate soul.
Either that or you simply didn't find the way to the new map. In any case, this guide will help you get there.
Required quest completion
In order to prevent instant death from entering Brimstone Sands, you will need to complete two quests, one from the main story and one from the update itself.
The main story quest is called A Selfless Nature and it becomes available at level 58. Therefore, if you are not at the required level, you won't be able to enter Brimstone at all. You can pick it up in Edengrove. If you are not that far up in the main quest chain, you will need to complete all the previous quests as well.
Once you've completed it, another quest will become available in the Mountainhome outpost in Shattered Mountain. This quest is called Strider of the Sands. There are just two objectives - get two Fish Oil and three Frostcliff Berries to craft a sunscreen.
Fish oil can be gained from salvaging fish or you can simply buy it at the Trading Post.
For Frostcliff Berries, go to the eastern part of Shattered Mountain, just north of the Mountainrise outpost, the quest marker will be there.
Upon reaching the marker you will clearly see where the berries can be harvested and the nodes are unique to the player so others harvesting for their own quest progress will not impede you.
Once you get all the ingredients, visit a camp or just place one yourself in order to craft the Desert Cerate.
Don't forget to use it after crafting.
At that point, you can just walk into Brimstone Sands but it will be quite a hike from either Ebonscale town or Lover's Shrine.
