Inside Xbox 2019 featured a new trailer for Wasteland 3, this time around in a much more appealing fashion for the fans. As a cherry on top, it revealed the frozen Colorado wastes will be open for business on 19 May 2019.
Wasteland 3's latest trailer is nostalgic, aimed at the fans who enjoyed the dark atmosphere and humour as well as followed by a fantastic cover of Land of Confusion. In case you are wondering, is done by Think Up Anger and Stormi Henley.
Anyway, the 1987 trailer is a far cry from the silly narration by Scotchmo that was featured in the E3 trailer. It shows the bleak atmosphere, compounded by the narration devoid of joy and hope.
One interesting takeaway is that this trailer is the first one that hints the Patriarch of Colorado is an unsavoury character. However, it remains to be seen whether he is that way because he believes the region needed an iron fist rule to survive or if he's simply an evil that the Rangers will choose to deal with, in either sense of the phrase.
While it's uncertain what the Patriarch's moral compass is like, we can safely say he's terrible at raising children. An oddball may happen here or there but if Vic Buchanan is any indicator of what his siblings are like, it's safe to say the Patriarch is in dire need of a name change since he isn't doing the word any justice.
Anyway, the narrator mentions that Colorado has a chance of becoming great again, the way it was back in 1987. How this person knows what 1987 was like is a bit of a mystery since Wasteland 3 takes place roughly 120 years after that. Perhaps we will run into a post-apocalyptic Methuselah, voiced by Brian Fargo himself.
