Warhammer Skulls presented massive news for the fans of both Warhammer 40,000 universe and the CRPG genre as a pioneer of this fusion is on the horizon.
Owlcat Games have been teasing their next game for the past few weeks and their teaser that showed unidentified space led fans to believe their next title would be about Starfinder as they previously released two Pathfinder games.
On June 1, 2022, these theories were proven wrong as the Warhammer Skulls showcase revealed what's next for the studio behind beloved Pathfinder titles - they are creating a CRPG in W40K universe.
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader will be the first CRPG in the franchise, which is quite the weight to undertake due to the massive fan base that will undoubtedly be hard to please but if Wrath of the Righteous is anything to go by, Owlcat Games proved they are capable of delivering an absolute masterpiece.
With these folks, bigger doesn't meant lower quality so yes, you can hope to get both bigger and better in a single title. After all, that's what I found to be so amazing with Wrath of the Righteous as it proved to be wide as the ocean and just as deep .
Both Kingmaker and WotR had a fair share of their bugs which is not unexpected when you get games of their scale and Owlcat didn't rest until they were ironed out, so hopes for Rogue Trader are quite high.
This game might be partially crowdfunded, much like Owlcat's Pathfinder titles, as the preorders are already up with varying degrees of perks, depending on which edition you order.
Rogue Trader currently has no release date.
