Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 just received a significant update that includes a new playable class, PvE map, equipment, and quality of life changes.
The highly requested Techmarine class was teased earlier this year, and Saber Interactive has finally unlocked it with the new update.
Alongside the new class players can find new PvE content and quality of life changes meant to enhance stability and matchmaking. The update dives deeper into Battlefield Conditions and includes quality of life improvements under the hood for SM2’s cooperative campaign.
Techmarine Class Now Playable
The Techmarine excels at crowd control and area defense. Its primary feature, the Servo-Gun, allows it to do multiple things at once. While locked on to visible targets, it allows Gun Strikes without locking out any other actions.
The Techmarine has a unique two-handed weapon called the Omnissian Axe. This versatile weapon scales with both single target and area damage abilities. Its power attack is a wide sweeping strike that hits all enemies in its path, great for tanking.
Techmarines can find and reactivate Sentry Turrets in PvE missions. Sentry Turrets lay down suppressive fire but will need to be activated by a Techmarine once out of ammo.
New PvE Map: Disruption
Patch 1.05 introduces a new PvE mission called Disruption! This mission takes place in the Hive City Avarax, where players bolster the defenses of the Cadian troops against a massive Tyranid onslaught.
Midway through the mission a Dreadnought arrives to lend a helping claw, but things don’t look so good when Thousand Sons troops arrive in the lower levels of the city. Expect multiple layers of enemy forces creating unique encounters and increased tension throughout the mission.
New Equipment and QOL Updates
This patch also introduces Restorative Stimms to the ever-growing list of PvE equipment options for squads. Along with new content, the team has also made many technical improvements and quality-of-life changes:
- Players will now be migrated to a new host if the Siege mode game server crashes.
- Allows players to create Private PvE missions with custom Battlefield Conditions.
- Added 21 new Daily/Weekly Stratagem Battlefield Conditions.
These changes and additions help reinforce Space Marine 2’s cooperative backbone by allowing for smoother games and increased variability when players return for more mission modifiers. You can find the full patch notes here.
