Haven is the first map in Valorant to feature three spike planting sites and has been part of the game since its inception. It was rotated out of the map pool at the start of Episode 8 but will return as a playable map in early June with the release of patch 8.11, during Episode 8 Act 3.
All this was revealed when Riot Games recently posted a video titled "Valorant Dev Updates," where the development team discussed various game-related topics. Most of the video focused on the upcoming map pool, agent changes, and the replay system. Currently, many players have avoided playing duelists due to their lack of viability. This article examines the buffs and nerfs in Patch 8.11 of VALORANT and their potential impact.
Highlights from the Valorant Dev Updates
With this Valorant update, Breeze and Split will be rotated out of the map pool. This change was confirmed by Coleman Palm, Valorant’s Product Manager, in a dev update video on May 21, 2024.
The community has previously criticized the developers for Episode 8’s "awful" map pool and called for an end to map pool rotations. Dan Hardison, Valorant’s Game Designer, addressed this feedback in the update. “We’ve heard a lot of feedback from you all about map rotations lately. Rest assured that your feedback has been heard loud and clear,” said Hardison.
He added, “As a starting point, we’re going to be more transparent around map rotations going forward so you all know when they’re happening ahead of time.”
In addition to the map changes, duelists like Raze will be nerfed, particularly her satchel mobility. Meanwhile, other duelists, such as Iso, Neon, and Reyna will receive buffs to create a more balanced experience. Changes to Reyna’s kit aim to improve her viability in team environments like Premier and Pro.
