An announcement for Valorant's release date on consoles could be imminent as the latest rumours suggest the game is about to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S later this week on Friday, 26, 2024.
The info comes from Xbox insider extas1s who claims that the game will officially arrive to console players on the abovementioned date so expect the official confirmation from Riot Games to arrive imminently.
Obviously, since this is not official information, take it with a grain of salt, even though extas1s has been pretty reliable in the past.
Valorant has been in closed beta for consoles for a while now, allowing players to test the console-specific features like controls made specifically for DualSense and the Xbox controller among other things.
Riot said before that Valorant will support cross-play between consoles but there won't be keyboard and mouse implementation. The devs were very adamant that using a mouse and keyboard on the console would result in a ban.
Valorant was initially released on PC on June 2, 2020, and since then has become one of the most popular tactical shooters on the market. It's free-to-play so that certainly helped but it must be said that the game does have quality modes, heroes, map design and weapons. It's a great package and no wonder players are liking it so much.
It will be interesting to see how the game performs on the consoles in terms of player count given that it was built first and foremost with PC in mind.
