This Is the Police 2 first gameplay video is out and reveals combat and story

This is the Police 2 is not completely following in the original game's footsteps. The sequel will be unfolding in a frontier town as opposed to a big city in the original and it will include turn based combat sequences in some situations.

Players will fill the boots of sheriff Lilly Reed, who is described as a young officer who was appointed as the sheriff of Sharpwood just recently. The sheriff will occasionally have to assume the direct control of a unit that was sent to apprehend a suspect or to engage a different kind of high-risk operation. 

This is the Police 2 will automatically switch to a turn-based combat mode in such situations. Now, the sheriff will operate with limited resources so they won't be always able to pick their best officers for these operations. There are hints of having to use the less competent ones, who were described as "drunk and stupid bums" as the player will not always be able to be choosy.

Once an operation commences, players will have to study the terrain in order to gain the most advantageous position possible in order to stealthily approach suspects. This will be necessary because this isn't a World War 2 simulator, but a police based story. Players will primarily be ordered to arrest suspects and use non-lethal weaponry, but shootouts will sometimes prove to be inevitable. 

It will pay off to have employed methods mentioned earlier, as a stealthy approach will maximise the chances of players' officers getting out of the situation alive. This is the Police 2 does not have the usual fixed damage and health bar system, so a single bullet can end an officer permanently.

The sequel doesn't step too far away from the original game though, as the management part remains in the game, but simply takes it one step forward. The officers will still have different stats but it will be up to the player to maximise their potential.

This is the Police 2 will be released later this year on PC, OSX systems, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. The exact date is not disclosed yet.
