The key to Yennefer's room is no longer of Common rarity after the next-gen patch in The Witcher 3. Instead, it's now a Relic rarity, making it one of the most unique items in the game.

The Witcher 3 next-gen update has brought a wide variety of improvements to PC , Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 including ray-tracing, new camera settings, quality of life changes and a bunch of other stuff that CD Projekt Red did not mention in the patch notes.

One of these subtle changes comes to the "Key to Yennefer's room" item, which has been used in many The Witcher memes over the years. The key is no longer of "Common" rarity, instead, the devs changed it to Relic, the highest rarity level in the game.

So what the fuss about the key's rarity you may ask? Well in The Witcher 3, Geralt is deeply in love with Yennefer who gives him the key to her room for obvious reasons. However, imagine Geralt's shock when he actually realises the key is a common item, meaning many men have the key.

Some CD Projekt Red dev probably thought it would be a fun little joke or it's possible that it's just an honest mistake. Luckily, the next-gen patch has fixed this but we can't say the same for Geralt's heart. Poor guy had to live with that fact for all these years so it will probably take a while before his pain heals.

Reddit We'll always have the memes! We'll always have the memes!
