The sequel to Nintendo's critically acclaimed The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is coming sooner than you may expect. According to the latest leak from a Twitter user Sabi, who is also a well-known leaker with a reliable track record, Nintendo's internal plan is to release The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 sometime in late 2020.
Unfortunately, Sabi claims that Zelda games are traditionally delayed whether internally or publicly so it's possible that the sequel also releases in 2021. "I would tell you Botw2 is planned to release in 2020, but Zelda release dates are historically delayed, internally or publicly," Sabi wrote on his Twitter.
Of course, take this with a grain of salt, just like any other rumour, leak or unconfirmed info but Sabi is a reliable leaker and a late 2020 release window for Breath of the Wild 2 makes a lot of sense for Nintendo. The company will certainly look to release big title to keep some of the spotlight on themselves in the mids of the next-gen consoles launch.
Late 2020 release window may come as surprise and shock to some, given the size of the game and Nintendo's release scheduled of previous Zelda games. Breath of the Wild released almost six years after Skyward Sword, which released five years after Twilight Princess.
Furthermore, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was announced only six months ago and the release in 2020 would be an unusual move from Nintendo but certainly not unexpected due to new consoles launch.
