System Shock remake has finally gone gold, with some backers remembering a bygone era when they pledged to the project.
Seven years after the Kickstarter project launched for System Shock remake, Prime Matter and Nightdive Studios announced that the game has gone gold.
System Shock remake is set to launch on May 30, 2023, on Steam, GOG and Epic Games Store at 8:00 AM PDT / 11:00 AM EDT / 4:00 PM BST / 5:00 PM CEST.
If you are wondering what took so long, perhaps it was about the game being an actual remake and not just a remaster. Maybe it was mismanagement, who knows? At least most of us lived to see the day, which is more than can be said for the likes of Star Citizen.
Anyway, the remake will combine gameplay that is closely referencing the original and the new visuals, better controls, interface and new sounds.
Additionally, players will be able to see new enemies, revamped hacking system, more combat options with a brand new dismemberment system and more.
Nightdive Studios, the developers, worked closely with the original System Shock developers to create the remake so it only remains to be seen whether the project lives up to the hype.
Fans have been waiting for a long time, let's hope it was for a good reason.
Console versions of the game don't have a release date yet but it will be announced soon.
