Street Fighter V is celebrating its fifth anniversary and the fifth and final season. The event will introduce Dan Hibiki, and a slew of fresh content.
It was just over five years ago when Street Fighter V arrived in the hands of its fans across the world. Today, the game is celebrating its fifth anniversary and the fifth and final season with the release of the new character Dan Hibiki and free content for all PlayStation 4 and Steam players.
This includes a new “V-Shift” battle mechanic, a new training stage, and an updated battle balance for all playable characters.
Dan Hibiki will (drop)kick off the fifth season of Street Fighter V with his trademark taunts and self-proclaimed "Master of Saikyo" fighting techniques. Dan can be added to Street Fighter V rosters now with the Season 5 Character Pass or the Season 5 Premium Pass. He can also be acquired separately.
All Street Fighter V players are also getting a free update today. The update will introduce the "V-Shift" battle mechanic and provide the players with all-new defensive options and strategies. The new mechanic will cost one bar of V-Gauge, and, when timed correctly allow for a fully invincible backdash that slows down time for a short period.
In addition, all players can now acquire a new training stage called "The Grid Alternative" for free, as well as an updated battle balance for all playable characters.
The rest of Season 5 will see four more characters join the fight: Street Fighter V: Champion Edition: Rose (Spring 2021), Oro (Summer 2021), Akira (Summer 2021), and a fifth and final unannounced character (Fall 2021).
Bonus 26 costumes and two new stages are also being planned for Season 5, including a Rose stage (Spring 2021) and Akira stage (Summer 2021).
