Vostok games, the studio comprised of former STALKER developers is working on a battle royale game dubbed Fear the Wolves. It is due for release later this year, although no concrete date was specified.
Fear the Wolves was unveiled during the ''Le What’s Next de Focus'' press event held by Focus Home Interactive in Paris on 7 and 8 February. The game announcement was somewhat short, scarce with info and media, but it included the promise of ''a new and original take on the growing battle royale genre'' as well as ''another intense and original game mode that will bring a fierce twist to the genre''.
One of the game's features will be additional survival elements that are a direct result of the oppressive environment of a radiation ravaged Chernobyl where the game will take place. These additional factors include hazardous anomalies and dynamically changing weather. Unless this includes being struck by lightning, the game sounds exactly like PUBG set in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe with few features on display that weren't already present in one of those two games. Nevertheless, it seems like an interesting blend.

A day and night cycle and gear that will allow players to explore off-limits zones is planned for the title. This may refer to the ability to spend time outside the circle of death that is by now a staple of the battle royale genre. It would indeed be an interesting twist, for better or worse. Info bits also mention the howls of mutated beings, but don't confirm if they will actually enter the fray or just remain a background noise. A bit of RNG chaos involving Snorks or Chimeras would definitely spice things up in a match.
Speaking of ambient sounds, it would definitely not hurt if we heard ''Ah nu cheeki breeki iv damke'' at some point during the match. Yeah, I had to.

Fear the Wolves will be available on PC and consoles, coming to PC first via Early Access. This is good news for the master race but could backfire if the product isn't up to spec as far as the oh so highborn crowd is concerned. Vostok Games' previous attempt at an FPS survival game is named Survarium and is still in Early Access. Since 2015.
