Solasta: Crown of the Magister will be a dungeon crawler a la D&D but it will have its own world to explore and the party of four will be individually customisable.
Solasta has come a long way since the initial reveal by Tactical Adventures as the verticality-heavy RPG is now showcasing some of the features that were not previously touched upon.
The first one that the players will come across is the character customisation. Players will get four party members, who can be created individually. The trailer below showed five races that players can choose from - Hill Dwarf, Half-Elf, Human, High Elf and Marsh Halfling.
If these sound like something coming out of D&D universe, your guess wouldn't really be off-target since Solasta takes many cues from there. For example, Tactical Adventures also acquired the rights to use D&D's SRD 5.1 ruleset in the game.
Anyway, back in character creation, there are six classes in the trailer - Cleric, Fighter, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue and Wizard. Anyone who tried their hand at any RPG should be familiar with these by now.
The character creation seems fairly deep with the deity selection, appearance choices, background, attribute rolls and skills. Considering we will need to balance out the four members of the party and make most of their various skills, we could be looking at a few hours of character creation alone.
While dungeons seem to be the primary driver in Solasta, they are not the only locales the party can visit. There seem to be various biomes to see before deciding to jump into the darkness.
