According to the latest rumours, Microsoft asked Bandai Namco to delay showing more Elden Ring stuff until their big event in April/May 2020, when the company is set to fully reveal Xbox Series X.
Elden Ring is the new, upcoming title from Dark Souls creators FromSoftware. The game was officially announced at the E3 2019 with a short teaser trailer. It's a third-person, action RPG for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki with worldbuilding by Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin.
Ever since the reveal, FromSoftware and Bandai Namco did not show us much, in fact, they didn't show anything, not a single screenshot or a trailer. Since Elden Ring is one of the most anticipated games of 2020, it's understandable that players would love to hear and see more but according to the latest rumours, that won't happen anytime soon.
In the latest XboxEra Podcast, ResetEra member Shpeshal Ed, claims that Microsoft asked Bandai Namco to delay showing more Elden Ring stuff until the reveal of Xbox Series X console. Apparently, the game will be shown again on the big event, which is rumoured for April/May 2020 but it's unclear what is the reason behind this.
Of course, just like any other rumour, leak or unconfirmed info, take this with a grain of salt. That being said, it wouldn't be surprising if this rumour is true. It's a bit odd that FromSoftware and Bandai Namco did not reveal more Elden Ring stuff since E3 and Xbox Series X reveal event could be the place for a world premiere.
Elden Ring is announced for current-gen consoles at the moment, but if the game is indeed set to be revealed at the event, then, this could mean it's a cross-gen title, coming also to Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
