Final Fantasy director and designer Tetsuya Nomura has confirmed that writer Kazushige Nojima has written a rough outline of what Final Fantasy X-3 could look like.
Final Fantasy X-2, a sub sequel to Final Fantasy X, has released way back in 2003 and since then, fans of the game have been waiting to hear more about another sequel but as you probably know, that never happened.
The game director Tetsuya Nomura has confirmed that Square Enix are interested in a sequel and they even have an idea of what Final Fantasy X-3 could look like. Speaking to Japanese publication Famitsu, Nomura said that writer Kazushige Nojima has written a brought outline for the game and that chances of it happening are not equal to zero.
However, the studio's focus is now on the Final Fantasy Remake 7 . They plan to release the second part of the adventure in the coming years and once they wrap up all the Final Fantasy 7 Remake releases, only then the studio can look at a potential sequel for Final Fantasy X-2.
It will probably take years before we hear any news regarding the project but it's good to hear that Square Enix have not completely forgotten about Yuna's story.
All in all, we'll keep an eye out for any Final Fantasy X-2 rumours or hints. Hopefully, these should be coming more frequently now that we know Square Enix are internally talking about it.
