Kingdom Hearts 4 story and characters
In the announcement trailer, Sora makes a return, beginning an epic new storyline titled the "Lost Master Arc."
The trailer shows Sora facing off a big boss in the city named Quadratum, a large, expansive location set in a realistic world unlike anything ever seen before in the series.
Sora’s well-known companions Donald and Goofy are returning, in addition to the first appearance of Strelitzia, a mysterious new character.
Kingdom Hearts 4 release date
During the announcement, Square Enix did not reveal many details about the game so we don't have a release date just yet. The publisher didn't even set a target release window so we'll have to wait a bit longer to hear more details. Our guess would be 2024 or perhaps even later than that.
Kingdom Hearts 4 gameplay and trailers
Interestingly, the announcement trailer does feature a couple of gameplay snippets which looked pretty awesome. Visually, the game looks great, the scale of the areas is epic while the boss fight we get to see in the trailer is spectacular.
You can find the trailer in the video below, from the 4:00 mark, or check out some screengrabs just below the trailer.
Here's one of the shots from the trailer, which reveals just how cool and epic Kingdom Hearts 4 looks.
Kingdom Hearts 4 release platforms
Square Enix did not reveal the release platforms for Kingdom Hearts 4, though, PlayStation 5 would be a safe bet since Square and Sony have been pretty close lately. We would be surprised at all if the game was a timed exclusive for Sony's platform.
Kingdom Hearts 3 was released on all major platforms including PlayStation, PC, Xbox and Switch so it would be nice if the fourth instalment also followed this pattern.
And that's all the info we have about Kingdom Hearts 4 so far. As we've already mentioned, as Square Enix reveal additional details, this article will be updated accordingly.
