The producer of the upcoming Final Fantasy XVI, Naoki Yoshida, claims that this game is going to show us the true power of the PlayStation 5 console.

According to Naoki Yoshida, producer of the forthcoming Final Fantasy XVI , the highly-anticipated action RPG will supposedly showcase the might of the PlayStation 5 console. Yoshida made the statement during an update livestream of the MMO Final Fantasy XIV, which he directs.

The whole stream was in Japanese; however, one Twitter user named Genki translated certain bits of Final Fantasy XVI-related news in the following tweet :

"Yoshi-P says that the Final Fantasy XVI “Revenge” trailer is all real-time and that the game will show the power of the PS5!"

“It’s all real-time rendering (the latest trailer) No loading! It’s become a game that is like, ‘Look at the power of the PS5!’” - Naoki Yoshida

Yoshida claims that the latest Final Fantasy XVI trailer was created entirely in real-time, which implies that no sequences were loaded or filmed separately. This isn't the first time we've seen such beautifully rendered cutscenes in games. The PlayStation hits from 2022, God of War: Ragnarök and Horizon: Forbidden West , showed us how these rendered cutscenes can reach film-like visuals in video games.

Here's the the trailer Yoshida spoke about:

Final Fantasy XVI is set to be released on June 22, 2023, for PlayStation 5, and will be a timed exclusive for this console. However, this exclusivity will end on December 31, 2023, when the game will become available for PC . As for if Final Fantasy XVI is headed to Xbox , we've yet to receive any confirmation from Square Enix .
