One of the announcements during Gamescom 2022 happened to be about a new action RPG that seems to be banking on co-op adventures.
Atlas Fallen debut trailer came somewhat out of nowhere, announcing a game that we didn't even know we needed.
With the surge of Soulslike titles in the recent years, the relecy frequency of action RPGs was dialed back but if you wanted hack and slash your way through groups of enemies in style, Deck13 and Focus Interactive seem to have you covered.
This new IP is all about wrecking piles of enemies up close, at least if the trailer is anything to go by. It will feature more than one protagonist since we are clearly shown two different characters with distinct but flashy fighting styles.
The story of Atlas Fallen seems somewhat generic as the Steam store page only hints at heroes who "rise from the dust and liberate mankind from the oppression of corrupted gods".
We've seen that one countless times bfore but being able to do it with a friend is undoubtedly going to make it better. That said, all the emphasis on co-op will not step on the toes of the solo adventurers as the players will be given a choice to either go through the adventure in a "fully cooperative or solo story campaign".
Atlas Fallen is coming to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S at some point in 2023.
