Ever since Capcom rolled out the first batch of Resident Evil 2 remake screenshots, it was clear that their RE Engine is up to the task. Thankfully, the gameplay was just as exquisite as the visuals, and it looks like RE3 is on the same path.
If we sound overly emotional and/or attached, we assure you - it's only because we are. Resident Evil 2 was a masterpiece that really set the bar, and merely reskinning it would've been an insult, regardless of the texture quality.
Thankfully, Capcom saw this too and did a magnificent job in retaining the spirit of the game, while bringing it up to modern visual and design standards. This may sound simple in principle, but it required some big decisions, not to mention courage on the dev's account.
Having been one of my main concerns for the said remake, seeing Capcom nail it flawlessly was just pure joy. Moreover, it bode well for the future as well and it is to be expected that Resident Evil 3 will do the same.
From what we see, it clearly doesn't lack in the visual sheen department, and if the gameplay ends up as thoughtfully tweaked as its predecessor, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis should have no trouble matching the success of its predecessor. For the second time.
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis images leaked online and spread like wildfire, and while many of them look quite spectacular, some others appear to be from the design phase. Not that we mind, of course, but seeing them rendered in Capcom's engine is a whole 'nother story.
