Resident Evil fans are at odds with Capcom currently, as the company has decided to change Leon S. Kennedy's story, somewhat slightly, but it still feels watered down. Needless to say, this prompted a bit of a rebellion among the fans.

Leon S. Kennedy is one of the most iconic Resident Evil characters and it's no wonder fans are running a small riot after Capcom announced they would alter his story. A new tweet by the company stated that Leon wasn't in Raccoon City when the zombie outbreak happened as he was at home, on standby.

Apparently, Leon was waiting for an assignment and it simply wouldn't arrive for days, which prompted the rookie cop to go to Raccoon City to find out what is going on. There are some plot holes with the new background, as the news of a zombie pandemic would definitely reach Leon before he set out on his own.

In Leon's old bio, his girlfriend left him, which prompted the young man to go on a quest to drain all the alcohol from the bar, which in turn caused him to sleep a tad longer than he expected. This is the reason why Leon was late for what was supposed to be his first day at RCPD, and properly explains why he is oblivious to the zombies in the city - he was passed out and didn't get the chance to hear about the undead monsters.

Hardcore Resident Evil fans remembered this, and some of them even took pictures of the official strategy guide that came out 20 years ago, along with the game. Fans do not like this change and you can see a stating that Capcom should not change the protagonist's backstory.

The reasons for changing Leon's bio are currently unknown, but it's possible Capcom wanted to cut back on controversial topics, such as alcohol marathons and being late for work. Whatever the case, this seems to be heating up as a new controversy and it remains to be seen whether Capcom will backtrack on this decision.
