Another major AAA release in 2024 has gone gold. Following the Star Wars Outlaws, which reached gold status last week, today Focus Entertainment announced that their highly anticipated third-person shooter Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is ready for distribution, which is what the "gone gold" status means in video game industry.
Publisher Focus Entertainment can now start printing the discs and shipping the physical copies of the game. Obviously, this does not mean that the development of the game is completed.
Developer Saber Interactive will continue to work on the game, polishing and optimising the overall experience but these updates will probably arrive through the day one patch, rather than be in the launch build.
Space Marine 2 is still two months from its September 9, 2024 release date so Saber will have plenty of time to deliver these improvements that will hopefully result in a very smooth launch across all platforms.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will be coming to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. In case you're not familiar with the game, it's a brutal third-person shooter that puts players in the boots of a powerful Space Marine to fight hordes of Tyranid.
The game will launch with a single-player campaign but also multiplayer modes. For more on that, check out some gameplay and other recent news about the game below.
