After more than two decades since we played the original sequel, Postal 2 is getting a full remake. Titled Postal 2 Redux, the game is being developed by Team Beef in partnership with Flat2VR Studios and original creators Running With Scissors.
The project promises to bring the cult-classic open-world shooter into the modern age with updated visuals, reworked systems, and broader platform support.
Set to launch via Kickstarter this summer, Postal 2 Redux will run on Unity Engine, allowing for updated graphics, physics, and smoother performance across modern hardware, according to the developers.
What’s Changing in Postal 2 Redux?
Postal 2 Redux will retain the structure and tone of the original—a week in the life of the Postal Dude—but with several core systems overhauled. These include:
- High-resolution textures and dynamic lighting
- A seamless open world with zero loading screens
- Updated crowd AI that reacts more unpredictably
- Fully physics-enabled interiors and environmental destruction
- Rebuilt weapon mechanics, including more realistic ballistics
- Champ the dog, now with expanded interactions
The game’s visual updates will also reflect changes in lighting across the day-night cycle. According to the team, each area of Paradise will feel more reactive and destructible, without altering the structure that fans remember—meaning you’ll still be running errands.
Running With Scissors founder Vince Desi said fans had been asking for fixes to crashes, modern graphics, and fewer canine-related incidents. "We’re doing two of those things," he said.
Platform Availability
The developers aim to bring POSTAL 2 Redux to nearly every modern gaming platform:
- Windows PC
- macOS and Linux
- PlayStation 4 and 5
- Xbox Series X|S
- Nintendo Switch
Final platform confirmation will depend on Kickstarter stretch goals and approval from storefronts. But the goal is to deliver a consistent experience across the board—whether you're causing chaos at your desk or on your commute.
Kickstarter Launches Summer 2025
The official Kickstarter for Postal 2 Redux will go live sometime in summer 2025. Backers who complete the campaign demo or provide feedback may be eligible for in-game rewards, although details haven’t been finalized yet.
Until then, Postal fans can look forward to a return trip to Paradise—this time with fewer crashes, more physics, and at least one slightly better-behaved dog.
